Road Trip to Auntie Rachael's House

Josh and I decided at the last minute to take a road trip to see Auntie Rachael in North Carolina. Since Josh is off work right now and I am on maternity leave we thought this would be a good time to go. Here is what Emma looked like most of the trip. She was great for the whole trip considering we were in the car 12 hours for two days (of course we stopped for a few breaks).

Emma had her first stay at a hotel. We stayed at the Holiday Inn and she had a queen bed all to herself. Here is Emma all wrapped up and ready for a good night sleep.

There had been a bad winter storm through Kentucky (as well as many other states). There was a lot of ice and many trees broke. There was a lot of areas without power. Here are two pics of what we saw driving down the road. The roads were dry and clear by the time we were on them, but I guess it was really bad.

Here is Daddy driving....he drove the whole time, I was the passenger. I guess that what happens when your husband drives for a living. I would think that he would want a break...but he does make a nervous passenger, so it is probably better that he does drives!

We made it Auntie Rachael's house Friday evening. Here's Emma with Rachael and her dogs Bailey and Daisy.

Sleeping Beauty

Stock Show

We went to the stock show on Monday. First we just walked around and looked at the animals and visited the booths. Josh got some Jack Daniels stuff to add to his collection and I got a "Sham-Wow!". If you have seen the commercials on TV, they really do work! There was a demonstration going on and it really is like on the commercial....so we had to get some and it was buy one get one so it seemed like we were getting a deal! Emma was in the baby carrier that you wear on your chest, all day, she slept through everything. I did get this one picture when we undid the straps for a minute. The other pics are the only ones I got during the rodeo....I know pretty lame, and not even of the fun stuff like muttin-bustin, bull-riding, or bronc-riding....oh well we always have next year!

Video of Emma

Two short videos of Emma. Each is about 2 1/2 minutes long....she isn't doing much, just looking and sounding cute!

First Walk

The weather has been nice, so we decided to go on a walk. Though it was nice out...still a bit cold for Emma, so she is all bundled up. She did great and made her little noises throughout our whole walk, I think she was listening to her voice vibrate--caused by the bumpy road.

New Car!

After two days of negotiating and dealing...with two dealerships....we got a new car! It is a 2009 Honda Pilot. This will be much easier for me to get the baby in and out of. I don't mind driving the truck, but this will just be easier.

On Friday Emma was 4 weeks old. She is growing fast. We got on the scale with her to see how much she weighs and we think between 8-9 pounds, hard to tell for sure with the scale here. She has just about outgrown her newborn clothes.....but her 3 month clothes are still a bit big. Also, her eyes continue to lighten up. They are blue right now.

3 Weeks and 3 Days Old

"Am I cute or what?"

One of the rare moments where Emma's eyes are open! She sleeps a lot, so it is hard to get good pictures of her with her eyes open. It is hard to see in the picture, but her eyes are starting to lighten up. When she was born they were dark greyish-blue--now they are more of a blue, we wonder what they will end up being.

Enjoying her floor-ocean-baby Einstein-toy-thingy (who knows what it is called). There is a music player on it with lights and she seems to like that and stares at it. She also loves to stretch herself out with her arms up and her legs straight out while she is laying on it.
