Memorial Day Weekend

Well the weekend started on Friday with my last day of school for this school year! We had field day and Emma came with Kendra and the daycare kids to enjoy the morning and watch the older kids. Of course Emma slept through the first half and then I stole her away to visit some teachers inside for the second half----then I had to give her up so I could go back to work! So I am finished with my part-time reading teacher job! It is sad---I have enjoyed the part-time and the reading..... much less stress this year, but life will go on! Maybe I can go back to reading in the future, we will see! Enough about me......... Josh flew home from Texas on Saturday to spend the weekend with us. He doesn't have to load until Wednesday so he decided to come home. Having a little fun with daddy......Emma LOVES showers!
If you can't tell....her shirt says "Daddy Rocks"
On Monday morning we made our way to Ft. Logan cemetery. Josh and I do this every year on Memorial day. We go and visit my grandparents' grave sites and Josh's brother's site. I also think it is important to remember what the day is all about (not just a day off from work!). It is neat to see all of the flags at each grave stone.
Later in the day we had a few friends and family over for a BBQ---another first for Emma! The weather was rainy, but we enjoyed some good food and company!
Today (Tuesday) we had to take Daddy and Auntie Anna to the airport to go back to Texas to go back to work :( ....but we will see daddy again soon!

5 months old!

Emma is five months old! Can't believe it! Not much new to report. Emma is playing more and everything goes into her mouth. She hasn't rolled completely over yet (by herself), but she does move enough to get herself where she wants. The other night I put her to bed like normal with her head underneath the side where her mobile is.....in the morning when I went in to get her, her head was on the opposite side (her feet were under the mobile)! I am sure it will not be long and she will be rolling back and forth. Here are some pictures of Emma playing!
Tummy Time! Look how I hold myself up!

Here is a new sound that Emma has learned to make with her mouth.

Weekly Update

Pretty uneventful week....full of work and daycare! Only 3 days left---and my school year is over! I have 6 weeks off before I have to go back for my new school year----yea! Though I am going back full time, so I'm a bit bummed about that. On Friday we headed to the Outlets in Castle Rock for a little bit of shopping. We asked Kelli and Conner to join us and to our luck---they weren't busy! So Emma got some new summer clothes and sleepers and I got some chocolate. After some shopping and a chocolate snack we headed to Spicy Pickle for lunch. Kelli and I both had a free coupon so all we had to pay for was our drink--can't beat $1.45 for lunch!
Here is Emma on Friday while we were shopping. She got some new sunglasses. They are sunglasses even thought the lenses are so light.
Conner enjoying his chocolate! Being a cutie!
Thanks for the fun day Kelli and Conner, we enjoyed spending time with you!
On Saturday Emma and I got up early and headed to Singing Hills Elementary to do a community garage sale that was hosted by the local 4-H. We did the garage sale with Kasey. It was freezing in the morning and the wind was howling. Later in the morning once the sun came out it was much better---still chilly, but bearable. I did make a little over $100 bucks---just enough to cover my "shopping spree"' the day before at the outlets!
Emma had a little snooze in the warm and cozy truck!
Today the weather is suppose to be really nice (why couldn't we have had this yesterday for the garage sale???? it always works out that way!). After church we are heading out to meet Shelbi for some lunch and girl time.

My First Mother's Day

For my first official Mother's Day Josh and Emma treated me very nicely! I started the day with a very nice card from Josh and a beautiful plant from Emma (it was in her room when I went to get her for her first feeding). I also got some flowers for my pots and flower box in the front yard, and we got 5 trees for the front of our house---I planted the flowers and Josh took care of the trees. After that we went to church. We went to the early service because I worked the second service in the walkers-2 yrs. room. WOW.....what an exhausting hour and 15 min! It was me with 7 little people and two middle-schoolers to help me. Josh went back home to make pull-aparts for brunch with my family---which we headed to after I was finished with church.
My little miracle who finally made me a mommy!
This is later in the evening before bed. Emma is very close to sitting up on her own, here she is practicing.
Josh went back to work today---after being home for about a month! We had lunch before he left. Here are some pics of Daddy having fun with Emma before having to leave.
I like this one.....Emma's eyes are so blue!

Trip to Idaho

We decided at the last minute (and I mean LAST minute--Wed. night and we left Thurs) to head to Idaho to see Nancy, Steve, Austin and Logan. We left Thursday after I got off of work and spent the weekend there. The drive is about 10 hours, so not too bad. We got there by noon on Friday and left on Monday morning. It was a quick fun-filled weekend!
Uncle Steve with Emma
The boys thought Emma needed some friends to play with, can you see her among all the stuffed toys? The boys are in the middle of baseball so we went to Logan's game Friday night and Austin's game Saturday. This is us sitting trying to stay warm. Emma was bothered by the sunlight so Nancy gave her her sunglasses---what a great Aunt!
Josh being is typical silly self in pictures.
This is a cute one of Nancy and LoganLogan taking some down time on the couch watching his brother play the Wii
Some play time on the floor
Practicing sitting up
Look how big I am!
Chillin' out watching Austin play Guitar Hero
The Guitar Hero master!
A master in the making!
We had a wonderful time with Aunt Nancy, Uncle Steve, Austin, and Logan! Thanks for letting us stay with you and being such great hosts. We enjoyed UNO, Monopoly, Wii, baseball, Kentucky Derby party, margaritas, and great family company! Thanks!

Fun With Conner

Conner, Kelli, and Johnny came over for some dinner and some social time. Emma went to bed early, the men played Tiger Woods golf on the Wii, and Kelli and I enjoyed chatting and playing with Conner. I slacked on the picture taking....Emma was around for the early evening, but I didn't have the camera out. The day before Kelli and I did the Cherry Creek Sneak with Emma and Conner. This is what our two angels looked liked when we got there, so peaceful, if only they had stayed that way through the walk!---I'm kidding of course they were wonderful!
Conner enjoying the ride.....though I guess he looks a bit worried here!
We had to stop for a milk break. Luckily I had brought a bottle, there really wasn't a good place to nurse! This is after some crying and fussiness. I thought Emma would sleep the whole time....Not what she had in mind...she decided to stay awake and be fussy the whole time. Conner and Emma took turns being fussy and then both fell asleep on our way home! Still had a great time and we'll have to make it a yearly tradition. We saw a couple kids in a wagon, maybe we'll have to do that next year.

Piercing Ears

So.......Josh and decided to get Emma's ears pierced. We really thought nothing of it, we wanted to get it done young so the pain is quickly forgotten (hopefully--that is what we are telling ourselves). I got mine done as a baby, so I thought this would be a good time. Though I have to be honest, as soon as we walked in the door, I was ready to turn around and leave! If Josh wasn't there with me I probably would have left.
Right BeforeAlign Center.......so innocent doesn't know what's coming. This is when I almost said STOP!
During.....why am I doing this to my baby girl??? And look at Josh, my heart was breaking! Right After.....and I mean right after, like 15 sec. I started making smiley faces at Emma and laughing and she started smiling, already forgotten!

All done we all survived.....me....just barely!
